Tell us about yourself:

I am proud to say I am a native of North Carolina and have lived in Wake Forest for 25 years. Being a grandmother is my greatest joy. I am retired and have many hobbies. I enjoy working in my yard, traveling, quilting, attending a weekly Bible study, reading and yoga.

Tell us about your yoga journey:

I started yoga when I was a stay-at-home mom. I loved the mental serenity and improvement in my flexibility. Unfortunately, life happened. My daughter grew up and I started working full time and there never seemed to be enough time for yoga. When I retired, I started back at Piper Moon Yoga. The location is so convenient for me. The class times fit my schedule perfectly. Kim was so encouraging when I started back after so many years, it was such a comforting and peaceful experience.

What has yoga done for you? What benefits have you seen?

Yoga has done so much for me mentally and physically. I have noticed that my life has become more tranquil again after starting back. My flexibility has improved, and I want to continue to improve. With Kim and Brenda’s encouragement and guidance, that is my plan for the future.

What’s your favorite pose?

I enjoy all the beginner yoga poses. My goal is to perfect the poses I can do without having to do the modifications. Trying to see how far I can take my upper body down in the Pigeon Pose and the Tree Pose while extending my arms are just a few of my goals.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I am so grateful that Kim and Brenda always ask before class starts if there are any issues that we would like to work on during the class.  Of course, I always go with my neck. They will incorporate neck stretches that have made a huge difference for me and I can practice them at home. Piper Moon Yoga has improved my physical and mental well-being plus I have made new friends which is priceless. I plan on continuing this journey with these wonderful yogis!
